The Chinese Brand, Zontes, Unveils Three-Cylinder ZT 703 F and ZT 703 RR at EICMA 2023

The Chinese motorcycle market has much potential when it comes to numbers; however, affordability must also meet the quality aspect of Chinese motorbikes. As we are getting closer to the future of bikes, Chinese manufacturers have also picked up the pace. Several attempts have been made to produce motorbikes that reflect esteemed quality and modern character. To achieve this, a notable Chinese motorcycle brand, Zontes, has stepped forward and has revealed two of the most competitive bikes that have the potential to compete in the international market.

The two bikes including the ZT 703 F and the ZR 703 RR from the Chinese manufacturer Zontes, were revealed at the world’s most prestigious motorcycling community gathering, EICMA 2023. Both of these Chinese bikes were initially announced in 2021, and it took the company approximately two and a half years to develop prototypes. There is still a long way to go to send these prototypes to production lines. The Zontes ZT 703 and the ZR 703 RR are expected to hit the market at the end of 2024, and by then, the competition is likely to be tougher.

What makes the Zontes ZT 703 F and the ZT 703 RR special, and why are we discussing the unveiling of these bikes today in this news post? The answer lies in their specialties and unique characteristics that both bikes will bring to the international motorcycle market. With the Zontes ZT 703 F and the ZT 703 RR, the company has finally broken the tradition of producing only single-cylinder motorbikes. To create a spark in the motorcycling world, Zontes has completely ditched the switch to parallel-twin engines and, instead, has designed all-new inline triple-cylinder engines to power the Zontes ZT 703 F and the ZT 703 RR.

At the time of the announcement, Zontes became the first Chinese company to develop three-cylinder engine technology. However, it took the company too long, as the other Chinese competitors, like CF Moto and Benelli, also ventured into the production of triple-cylinder engines.

The two motorcycles, including the Zontes ZT 703 F and the ZT 703 RR are two anti-parallel motorbikes. There is scarcely one commonality in both bikes, and that is the 699 cc triple-cylinder engine. Apart from that, both bikes have their unique genres and categories.

Zontes has intelligently covered the most trendy motorcycle segments, including the middleweight ADV market and the road-legal sports bike. You may not have heard the brand name before if you are new to motorcycling; however, even the first glimpse of these bikes will stun you for a moment. This time, the Chinese brand has achieved something beyond expectations.

Talking about how these motorcycles look, there is one word that can define and sum up their style, aesthetics, appeal, and fit and finish and that is ‘perfect’. The Zontes ZT 703 F is a middleweight adventure bike with a flawless design and a compact build. Every part of this bike is installed perfectly to give it a complete look. It looks like modern machinery with multiple guards and cages protecting the essential parts.

The specs are not yet revealed by the company, but considering the look and feel, these bikes look exceptionally well-engineered. For protection, the Zontes ZT 703 F uses a gas tank guard, engine guard, and frame protection as well. The single-piece wide and spacious saddle is perfectly blended with the gas tank to give a single-unit look. Towards the rear, there are grab rails, a saddlebag mount, and a small luggage rack. The belly is also covered with a skid plate to protect the sensitive parts from getting damaged while extreme off-roading. Another distinctive aspect of the Zontes ZT 703 F’s look is its relatively flat front end look, thanks to the large and adjustable windscreen, as most adventure bikes manufactured nowadays have a beak-style front end look.

Alongside adventure touring, Zontes has also uplifted its brand position by introducing another bike powered by the same 699 cc inline three-cylinder engine, called the Zontes ZT 703 RR. However, to accommodate riders with varied and versatile likings, Zontes has been successful in developing a great-looking sports bike. Though the Zontes ZT 703 F adventure bike does not have a beak-style front end, the Zontes ZT 703 RR features a pointed beak-style front end. The overall styling is quite aggressive with sharp lines and edges to improve aerodynamics and high-speed performance. This middleweight sports bike is a complete package for both track racing and city travel. The headlight design, fairing style, air intake, and each part are symbols of premium craftsmanship.

The Zontes ZT 703 RR shares a little resemblance with the Aprilia RS 660 and competes in the same middleweight category. However, the ZT 703 RR has more grunt and can generate better peak power and torque. This Chinese sports bike has not reached production yet, but it is expected to give tough competition to Japanese and Italian sports bikes, particularly in the middleweight category.
Though the specs and technical details have not been disclosed yet, there is only a little information that has been gathered so far related to the Zontes ZT 703 F and the ZT 703 RR.
