The class-leading adventure bike of its time, the Moto Guzzi Stelvio, is back with some serious changes in its design and performance. The adventure bike that once was a close competitor of the most admired ADV bikes of all time, including the Yamaha Super Ténéré and the BMW R1200GS, has returned to make a mark in the ADV bike market. The Moto Guzzi Stelvio ADV was released in 2007 and continued to sell successfully. However, the Italian manufacturer, Moto Guzzi, decided to discontinue this motorcycle in 2017 in favor of its successor, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello.
2017 Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 NTX
The previous-generation Moto Guzzi Stelvio ADV bike earned a reputation as the most economical and ideal adventure tourer. The 2017 model was capable of delivering 105 hp of horsepower at 7,250 rpm and a torque of 113 Nm at 5,800 rpm, thanks to its powerful 1,151 cc V-Twin engine installed in the same iconic 90° transverse style. What made the Moto Guzzi stand out from the rest of the ADV bikes in its time was the large fuel tank capacity of 8.45 gal.
After revolutionizing the ADV market in the 2010s, the Moto Guzzi Stelvio is back as the 2024 model. The comeback of this stellar adventure bike is aimed at targeting the most trendy motorbike segment, the ADV bikes market. However, to come stronger this time amidst tough competition in the market, the Moto Guzzi has produced an eye-catching design with features that make it a motorcycle of the future.
The bike was unveiled at the EICMA 2023 in Milan, immediately garnering the attention of the motorcycling community. Moto Guzzi has not yet disclosed detailed specs of the Stelvio ADV bike on its website. However, the complete modern rider aids and electronics details are shared to keep the motorcycling community updated. As per the sources, the Moto Guzzi Stelvio ADV features a more refined 1,042 cc liquid-cooled, 90° transverse V-twin engine based on the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello, with certain tweaks and improvements. The engine is expected to ensure robust operation and quick throttle response, with the most horsepower available at 3,500 rpm. Overall, the 1,042 cc engine produces 115 hp at 8,700 rpm and a torque of 104.94 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Like the previous generation, the 2024 Moto Guzzi Stelvio uses shaft drive to deliver power to the rear wheel.
The iconic soaring eagle-style headlamp, as installed in most Moto Guzzi motorcycles, can also be seen on the 2024 Moto Guzzi Stelvio. Though it uses the same engine layout, this motorcycle's finish and every minute detail are a class apart. It features a chiseled shape and extended fuel tank design which perfectly blends with the saddle to ensure a comfortable riding position and command over the motorcycle. The exhaust pipes originating from the 90° transverse-mounted cylinders are innovatively placed with the engine to give the motorcycle a compact and modern look.
The windscreen is not a simple piece of equipment; it can be electronically adjusted to match the rider’s preferences. Unlike most ADV bikes, the handlebars installed on this dual-purpose bike are highly sweptback and adjustable to keep it close to riders. A sturdy luggage rack at the rear can withstand a good weight. The handguards and a 5-inch display screen are also standard on this motorbike.
