The Royal Enfield Electric Prototype Bike Based on the Himalayan Tested and Revealed at the EICMA 2023

The technological advancements and upcoming trends in the motorcycling world have urged the motorcycling community to actively participate in the clean energy campaign. The most inspiring news circulating this week within the motorcycling community is the revealing of the first-ever concept electric prototype motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Him-E.

Royal Enfield may not be one of the richest and most advanced motorcycle brands in the world, but it has turned heads by testing its electric model in the Himalayas. The story opened after the company revealed its first-ever electric concept motorbike at the EICMA 2023 in Milan, alongside the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452.

The electric RE Himalayan, Him-E, is an adventure bike, built around the same frame used in the RE Himalayan. The prototype displayed at the EICMA 2023 had grime all over its body, tires, and mudguards as the company tested this motorcycle in the Himalayas. Royal Enfield calls it a test development product, not a concept bike because this bike is nowhere near the production unit. Royal Enfield decided to execute its ideas and learn from the experiments to build a proper and reliable electric motorcycle to compete in the electric motorcycle market.

Royal Enfield has been working on the electric Him-E prototype for the past one and a half years, as the company has future plans to enter the electric motorcycle market. For a manufacturer of small-budget motorcycles, it is a great step forward towards a sustainable automotive industry.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan electric prototype (Him-E), as displayed at the EICMA 2023, features a battery pack that naturally fits in place of the engine. If you see this test development product from up close, it encompasses several aluminum body parts. The prototype also features adjustable Ohlin suspensions, Brembo brake master cylinders, a chain drive system, a color display screen, and multiple hand control buttons. The specs and features are not disclosed by Royal Enfield, as the company has no plans to send this e-motorbike to the production unit for now.

If you are a Royal Enfield fan and are looking for an affordable electric motorcycle by Royal Enfield, the good news will probably come in 2025 or later.
