Kawasaki, known for its superior sport bikes and engine tech, has recently released a very innovative feature. The Japanese bike maker announced that a new voice command feature would be installed on its specific models. These models include:
- Versys 1100
- Ninja 1100SX
- Z900
1. Voice Recognition Feature in Motorbikes by Kawasaki
Voice command systems may not be considered a big leap in the tech world. However, the Japanese brand must be admired for putting into action the voice command feature on its bikes.
We must see how well this voice control feature works on bikes. It doesn’t seem quite possible without a proper windshield, noise control, and noise blocking.
Motorbikes, especially those made by Kawasaki, are built to deliver sheer power and make riders achieve top speeds. At high speeds, it gets nearly hard even to hear yourself. The air drag can make you deaf while cruising down on highways and twisty roads.
2. Kawasaki’s Proposal to Riders on How to Use Voice Command Feature
As far as the company has confirmed, riders are advised not to use the voice control feature at speeds above 75 mph (120 km/h). It will likely not work above this speed because of high air drag and noise.
3. Pros of Voice Control Feature in Motorbikes

Still, it is a brilliant feature as it allows riders to operate and control several features through voice. Riders will not need to push any buttons while constantly looking at the screen.
For those who love touring on bagger bikes and fully-dressed tourers with infotainment systems, interacting with the bike during the ride can be dangerous. Mostly, riders have to take a break or stop on the roadside to change settings.
It can be a life savior if you can control features by just telling the system through voice.
4. Development and Testing of Kawasaki’s Voice Control Tech
It almost took Kawasaki a year to develop this voice control tech that can work on motorbikes. We can imagine how this voice control feature would have been tested.
The voice command feature has been designed to recognize many accents and languages. The company ensures this voice control system works smoothly for all bike markets.
This tech feature uses Cerence Voice Command Software to operate. As of now, the voice control feature will allow riders to operate and control 18 different settings. The system is programmed to receive 18 different commands. These include:
- Make phone calls.
- Check vehicle/bike info.
- Access navigation.
- Adjust the volume.
- Check weather.
5. Kawasaki’s Future Plans for Voice Control Features & More

We will probably see more top-end safety rider aids by the company in future models. Also, the company plans to install the same voice control feature in other models, depending on its success.
“Kawasaki is leading when it comes to electronic rider-aid technology in motorbikes. This includes not only built-in features but also a focus on the current and future needs of riders.”
6. Who Can Access the Kawasaki Voice Control Feature?
As per the company, this feature will be available on annual subscription charges.
What about who can access the Kawasaki voice control feature on the bike? Only the owner will be licensed to command the voice control app when buying the new model. No one else would be able to command the voice control software.
Even if the bike is sold within the first year of purchase, the new owner will have to wait until the yearly subscription expires.
Let’s wait and see how good this new voice control tech feature for the 2025 models is.
