Honda Gold Wing Marks the Golden Jubilee with Light Updates to the GL1800 Lineup

The best of the best, the Honda Gold Wing has completed 50 years of making. It is no joke! The Gold Wing has remained Honda’s flagship model across its making. It is at the peak of sports touring tech with several top-end features and safety rider aids.

Honda decides to celebrate the Gold Wing’s Golden Jubilee by adding light upgrades to the GL1800 lineup. Before we get deeper into this, let’s first talk about the Honda Gold Wing’s brief history.

Honda Gold Wing, the name first emerged in 1974. However, at first, the Gold Wing wasn’t as big as it is now. It featured a 999 cc flat-four engine. It looked more like a classic bike with standard styling.

Later, in 1980, it became the Honda Gold Wing GL1100 with a 1,085 cc flat-four engine. It was in 1983 when the Honda Gold Wing GL1200 came as a full-dressed touring bike. It had a 1,182 cc engine, front fairing, windshield, saddlebags, engine and frame guards, and a rear trunk with a combined passenger seat.

Over time, it started receiving several technical upgrades and an engine upgrade. Finally, in 2001, Honda released the Gold Wing GL1800. Over time, the cute-looking Honda Gold Wing became more bold and sporty. However, there is still no compromise on the comfort.

The Honda Gold Wing is widely known as one of the most comfy bikes. Though it has several sporty styling cues, it is still a comfortable touring bike.

On the occasion of the Honda Gold Wing’s Golden Jubilee, the company wants fans to relive the Gold Wing’s legacy. For the 2025 Honda Gold Wing models, the Japanese bike maker has decided to go with new paint jobs. However, these new color options are inspired by the old Gold Wing models of the past.

The new Honda Gold Wing model is expected to receive a very attractive dual-tone paint job, including Mahogany Brown and Eternal Gold. This is to remind riders of the 1988 Honda Gold Wing GL1500.

The updated new models are also expected to receive new badging for the Golden Jubilee.

The 2025 Honda Gold Wing includes “Since 1975’ and the ‘50th Milestone’ emblem. The bike’s key also comes with a ‘Gold Wing’ emblem for a high-end touch.

To ensure the new Honda Gold Wing models run smoothly without leaving much carbon footprint, the updated engine features new Euro5+ technology. The O2 sensor will help meet the Euro5+ rules.

The new 2025 Honda Gold Wing has also received certain tweaks with the ECU. These upgrades will be available for the whole Honda Gold Wing Family, including the manual and DCT variants.

Other than the aesthetics upgrades, the 2025 Honda Gold Wing has also received sound system upgrades, including a better audio system. A brand new speaker installed on the new Gold Wing model will ensure better sound even when riding at high speeds.

Also, there are two USB-C charging ports available in the new Honda Gold Wing model. The updated rider and passenger comms will automatically reduce the background music while talking.

The new 2025 Honda Gold Wing models with light updates will likely arrive on the market in March 2025. The price starts at $25,200 for the Gold Wing Golden Jubilee model.
