Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 13 reviews.
I bought these because I wanted the extra storage without giving up the leather-covered look on my Low Rider S. I ride to work during the week and take longer rides on the weekends, so the bags get used pretty much every time I’m on the bike. They hold all the stuff I normally end up carrying without making me think twice about space. The leather finish also fits the bike a lot better than the plain bags I was looking at.
The locking setup was a big deal for me. I make plenty of stops during my rides, sometimes leaving the bike in a parking lot for a while, and I wanted to feel better about leaving my gear behind. Having matching keys for both bags keeps it simple. I don't have to carry around a bunch of different keys just to secure my stuff.
I do a lot of highway riding and usually have a jacket, gloves, tools and a few personal things packed away. With my old bags, everything inside would shake around enough to get annoying after an hour or two. That’s much less of an issue with these. The foam-lined interior makes the ride noticeably quieter, especially once I’m cruising at higher speeds.
I’m the type who checks the mounting hardware before trusting anything with my bike. The updated metal mountings and bolts were one of the reasons I went with this set. Once everything was in place, the bags felt properly supported instead of like an accessory that might need constant checking. After putting some miles on them, I’m comfortable loading them up for longer trips. For my FXLRS, these are among the Best Low Rider S saddlebags I’ve used so far.
I was replacing an older set after they started looking tired, and I wanted something that would suit the bike better this time. The leather-covered finish was what caught my eye initially, but the security and overall construction are what convinced me to keep them. They have that more finished appearance I was after without feeling delicate. I can see why people consider these when looking for the Best Low Rider S saddlebags
The bags themselves are really good but the mounting hardware leaves a lot to be desired! On the low rider s as with all soft tails the left side has the be spaced out farther than the right because of the swing arm. The cheap angle blocks made from bent sheet metal are worthless. I had the reinforce the angle blocks to hold the bag out far enough to not hit the axle nit on the left side so not to damage the bag.
Fairly straight forward install other than the signal relocation. Not Vikings issue but Harley made it so I had to remove the rear fender to get at the side mounting bracket bolt to get at the signal bolts ! Bit of a pain but all good.
Viking needs to provide actual wiring extensions rather than 4 wire crimps.
Also the locks on the quick disconnect are pretty crappie.
Overall though, they look awesome and the bags themselves are good and rigid.
8/10 only because of the lights and the cheap quick disconnect locking system.
