The price initially knocked us off, but it includes lessons on how to get the most out of the software, as well as a straightforward design that makes navigating the comprehensive data collecting simple. Harry’s LapTimer can get a little confusing with the amount of info it provides, but you can personalize your preferences.

4.2 Track Addict Pro

If you are happy to buy an external GPS device and OBD port attachment, we’d recommend Track Addict Pro. It works quite well without them, but they improve accuracy. They are circuit, segment, and drag modes (more than any other app), plus a variety of pre-loaded tracks, or you can create one. By taking highly accurate data directly paired with GoPro, you have a wealth of info to analyze. Imminent updates will include sector splits, too.

4.3 RaceChrono Pro

We had to include RaceChrono among our top picks, as it is a highly commendable option for Android users. It's a terrific value, with a slew of well-presented, smoothly integrated features.

Like many apps, RaceChrono can be had for free with pop-ups, in-app purchases, and advertising, or you can pay for the Pro version, skip all that annoying stuff, and get right down to brass tacks. As expected, hard data is data, and there’s not much more that you could want from a tracking app.

The package's presentation and ease of use are the two biggest benefits. This app offers you much of the same data and features as Harry’s but has more than 2000 preloaded tracks and features unlimited-length sessions as well as smooth-scrolling data analysis with synchronized graphs and maps.

How Do I Connect My GoPro to the RaceChrono App?

Follow these steps to connect GoPro to the RaceChrono App:

1. Install the GoPro app and pair it with your camera. (Make sure you install the compatible version according to your mobile phone).
2. Go to the RaceChrono Setting in your app and tap the “Add Camera” button.
3. Carefully select your GoPro model from the popped-up list.
4. GoPro Hero 5,6,7,8 and newer: After your camera appears in the list, turn it on and choose it from the list. The Bluetooth name of your camera will appear instead of the user-configurable Wi-Fi name. From this menu, you may also choose "Use Wi-Fi exclusively." If this option is chosen, RaceChrono will connect your camera without a "Bluetooth handshake," turning it on and resolving its Wi-Fi name and password.
5. If necessary, enter your camera's information on the settings page. You may have a varied set of setting options depending on your camera model.

4.4 RaceTrac

Racetrac’s technical graphs for lap data are good, with a video tutorial to talk through them. The app uses GPS to automatically create a custom track—drive one lap and place the start and finish line on a detailed satellite map, so you don’t have to look up GPS coordinates. When the line was crossed, it also reset the time. The timer was accurate, but the results were not always saved. Updates are coming, such as an Android version.

4.5 iLaptimer

iLaptimer is a commendable effort, but it still requires improvement. It has a large library of tunes from all over the world and a simple UI. Longitudinal and latitudinal points are used to create the track, and it's easier to drop a pin at the start/finish line than on rivals. The data recordings are precise, and the app initiates on its own, thanks to the automatic count from the line. We had hoped for more. It is possible to share photos and lap timings, but not to compare them.

4.6 Racelogic Laptimer

We weren't surprised by Racelogic's app's clean layout and accuracy, given its standing in the realm of professional data logging. It can be used in conjunction with a VBOX for more precise GPS data, but it also performs well on its own. After loading the app and selecting a tune, this was by far the easiest app to use. One of our favorite features was that the screens were easy to switch between, and the results showed clear sector splits over sessions. There's no video and it's exclusively for iOS, but it's hard to complain about something free.

4.7 Android Motorsport Data Logging

A complicated registration and download process is required for this portable recorder for a Web browser-based program. Then we discovered that there was no visual representation of what was being captured during the session. We couldn't get online on the motorcycle because of poor 4G reception, and we discovered that our data hadn't been recorded. The software, according to Maker, allows you to compare laps, but we didn't go that far.

4.8 BMW M Laptimer

Unlike the previous BMW Power meter app, this one relies on your ride’s sensors. We were given the keys to many rides and were impressed by the app's clean design. 4.9 Race Recorder

Fans of the minimalist aesthetic will appreciate this: Race Recorder was created with simplicity in mind. Circuit, Free, and Acceleration are the only three timing modes available. The circuit records data on your local circuit using Google Earth telemetry readout lap-time data and saves it for later analysis. The ability to give you a best-potential-lap time is a cool tool.

For most trips, the Free Timing function stores your GPS telemetry as a Google Earth file; this one is great for off-road drivers. Though simplistic in design, it allows you to customize the app's colors to match your bike’s instrument cluster. Race Recorder has a somewhat lower rating of 4.3 stars on the Play Store, but it is free software that can be quite useful.
