Honda has recently made several commitments regarding replacing all its gas motorcycles with electric bikes by the end of 2040. Also, the top Japanese manufacturer is committed to introducing 30 electric motorcycles by 2030.
1. Honda’s Aim Toward Achieving Carbon Neutrality
As the company aims:
“Honda aims to achieve carbon neutrality through all of its products and corporate activities by 2050, and to achieve carbon neutrality for all of its motorcycle products in the 2040s. Towards this goal, Honda is working to electrify its motorcycles as the mainstay of its future environmental strategy.”
Honda has taken a big turn in their approach and strategy. This shows how serious it is regarding saving nature and the environment.
2. The Star of the Show “Honda” At EICMA 2024
Honda also turned many heads at the EICMA 2024 with its new innovative concepts. The company introduced the all-new forced-induction V3 engine and revealed two new electric bike concepts. These include:
Honda EV Fun Concept
Honda EV Urban Concept
2025 is about to start, and we expect these Honda electric-powered concept bikes to arrive in 2026. From the looks of these impressive Honda electric concept bikes, they look production-ready.
The Honda EV Fun Concept and the EV Urban Concept seem perfect for entering the electric motorcycle market. Let’s take a closer look at these advanced-looking electric machines made by Honda.
3. Honda EV Fun Concept
The Honda EV Fun Concept looks like a compact, streetfighter-style naked bike in design. It has a sporty look with minimum, yet intimidating look.
The fact that Honda manufactures it makes it look and feel great. The fit, finish, build quality, and exclusiveness are top-notch and evident. The wheels and tires on the Honda EV Fun Concept also seem to be taken from a sports bike.
The footpegs are backward mounted, and the handlebars on this machine are familiar to those found on a naked bike.
The company is proud to call it the first Honda electric sport motorcycle. Apart from the physical appearance, no information regarding the specs has been revealed yet.
Nevertheless, the company claims it will be comparable to a middleweight naked bike powered by an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) in terms of power figures.
Coming to the range and charging, the Honda EV Fun Concept can deliver a range of at least 60 miles with a full battery. The Honda electric motorcycle is expected to use level-2 charging as most advanced electric bikes do.
However, no information about the battery type, capacity, and charging time is available.
Though most of the latest lightweight electric motorcycles nowadays have detachable batteries, the Honda EV Fun Concept has a fixed battery.
The EV Fun Concept is designed for lightweight handling and easy maneuverability.
Honda does not seem to be delaying or postponing the production of the EV Fun Concept. According to the sources, the concept bike has already been sent to the production unit and will be completed by the end of 2025. Also, it will be available as a 2026 model in the market.
There is no confirmed date for the US motorcycle market when the Honda EV Fun and Urban Concept bikes will be introduced.
4. Honda EV Urban Concept
Looks like the Honda EV Fun Concept and the EV Urban Concept have the same black and silver theme. However, the latter is an electric scooter. If you are a scooter lover and like how they look and feel, the EV Urban Concept has everything to mesmerize you.
The EV Urban Concept looks quite modern and innovative. However, it features a conventional scooter design. The battery is placed in between the rider’s legs on the base.
Though it is a scooter, it has more interesting advanced features than the EV Fun Concept. This electric scooter can wake up as the owner approaches, as shown in the ad video released on YouTube.
The AI-driven dashboard is another very interesting inclusion in the Honda EV Urban Concept. The dashboard interacts with the owner through texts to improve the human-machine interaction.
We have not confirmed whether this feature will be a part of the production version, but it looks amazing in the video.
Unlike the Honda EV Fun Concept, the company hasn't confirmed the information regarding the production and expected release dates.
As we can confirm by looking into it, both the Honda EV Fun Concept and the EV Urban Concept have a belt final drive for ease of maintenance. However, we must expect changes as the concept bikes are, most of the time, very different from the production units.
