I recently had a motorcycle accident that unfortunately put my Viking Bags crash bars through a very serious real world test.
I ended up flipping over my handlebars, and my motorcycle crashed and rolled roughly 10 feet across the pavement. Looking at the accident and the amount of force involved, I fully expected significantly more damage to the bike.
I have to give a huge thank you to Viking Bags for making such a solid crash bar. The crash bar took the impact and helped protect the front and side of my motorcycle exactly where I needed it. It sacrificed itself and absorbed a lot of the damage that could have easily gone directly into the bike.
This wasn’t a controlled test or a simple parking lot drop. This was an actual accident with the motorcycle hitting and sliding across pavement, and seeing how the crash bar performed gave me a completely different level of confidence in the product.
I also have to give a shoutout to my Viking Bags saddlebags. They helped protect the rear of the motorcycle during the crash and held up incredibly well themselves. Despite scraping across the pavement, the bags stayed intact, remained attached, and protected everything inside. There were no dents or structural damage to the bags. The main damage was the exterior material scraping away where they contacted the pavement.
Between the crash bars protecting the front and sides and the saddlebags taking the impact toward the rear, my Viking Bags equipment took a beating and helped protect my motorcycle far better than I expected.
I originally bought these products for protection, storage, and appearance. After this accident, I can say I’ve unfortunately given them a legitimate crash test, and they performed when it actually mattered.
Thank you, Viking Bags, for building equipment that held up when I needed it most. I’ll absolutely continue using and recommending your products.
I’d also love the opportunity to replace the crash bars and saddlebags that sacrificed themselves protecting my motorcycle. After seeing firsthand what they can handle, I’d gladly put another set back on my bike.
Very heavy steel, and the color is a close match to the black accents. Curved back so it clears the wheel when steering. Very happy with it. However, the highway pads included are unstable and tend to slide off when in use. Recommended to tie them down with zip ties.
I bought the crash bar for my Iron 883. It was good except the foot pads were ripped in one area on both sides where the pin goes through the connecting pieces. If that wasn’t ripped it would be 5 stars. Didn’t take long to arrive in Canada. The only issue I had was getting slammed with a steep shipping fee and then also getting hit with a steep customs fee making my gear cost significantly more than what it’s worth.
This fit great on my bike. Was very easy to assemble. They look very nice and so far so good. I wasn’t able to reach the foot part on the bar because I was too short, but with a different seat it worked. I’m 5”5’ for reference. Highly recommend. Delivery took 8 days.
It was exactly what I was looking for, less than half the price of the HD ones. I would recommend having a friend help install it, it can be done solo, but it's a struggle
Sissy bar looks amazing, installation was super easy, however it only came with enough screws for one side, should have came with 4 only came with two. Had to run out and match the screws and bolts to complete the install
Solid bar, not too heavy, rubber peg mounts are useless and tore off with little pressure but I would still purchase the bar again as the look and finish are great otherwise. Install is easy as well.
