I had been looking for saddlebags for quite some time, but nothing really convinced me to finally click “add to cart” until I came across these. I wanted something that wasn’t too large but also not too small, something that would fit the proportions of my bike without looking bulky. I’m glad I waited because when these became available they seemed like exactly what I had been searching for, so I decided to go for them. As an added bonus, they arrived sooner than expected, which is always a pleasant surprise.
For reference, I ride a Honda Rebel 500 and have been riding for a couple of years now.
Right out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the smell of the Viking leather. It has that authentic leather scent that immediately gives the impression of a quality product. The material feels sturdy and well made. The quick release buckle system is also very convenient, it’s easy to operate and makes accessing the contents of the bags quick and hassle-free.
One thing I did notice when opening the top for the first time: I pushed the lid a little too far back and heard a slight ripping sound where some of the glue seemed to separate a bit. It doesn’t appear to be a major issue, but it’s something to be aware of. My advice would be to open the lid slowly and avoid forcing it past its natural range.
Aesthetically, I really like how these bags complement the bike. They add a sleek, slightly aggressive edge that the bike definitely benefits from. Since the Rebel is already a slim motorcycle, the shape of these saddlebags adds some nice visual balance without making it look oversized or bulky. The design works well with the bike’s overall style
Capacity wise, they hold just about the right amount for my needs. I haven’t tried overpacking them yet, but they easily carry the essentials I usually bring on rides. Having them means I no longer need to carry a sling bag, which makes longer rides much more comfortable and convenient.
I also replaced my stock exhaust with one that sits slightly higher than the original. Even with that modification, the bags fit perfectly. There’s about half an inch (~1.27cm) of clearance between the exhaust and the bag. After riding, the bottom of the bag does get warm once the bike stops, but so far I haven’t noticed any damage or signs of heat-related issues.
In terms of riding performance, the saddlebags have not negatively affected the bike at all. I barely notice any difference while riding. The bike still feels balanced and handles just as well as before.
One thing I haven’t tested yet is how they perform in the rain, so I can’t comment on their weather resistance at this point.
Installation was fairly straightforward overall. However, I do think the instruction manual could benefit from a few more photos or clearer visual references. A bit more guidance would make the process even easier, especially for riders installing saddlebags for the first time.
Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase so far. They look great on the bike, provide useful storage without compromising the riding experience, and seem to be well made.
Just install these bags but already love how they look. Easy enough to install! As a woman, you made it super easy for that installation, the hardest part was getting the dang bolts off the fender.
The items great, the company selling it not so great. They claim to have your item shipped out in 2 days but they accept your money knowing items are on backorder and they fail to let you know and make you wait two weeks until you call them asking what's going on. And then when they do finally send out your item and you get it you get the wrong mounting hardware and have to wait another 2 weeks for the hardware. I've been waiting 11 weeks all together still waiting for my mounting hardware. The item itself is great
