Triumph launches 7 new models in India

On November 28th, the British motorcycle company Triumph is set to launch their entry into the Indian market. Triumph has been in business since the early 20th century when they produced a little 2.2hp bike now commonly known as No. 1. During the fifties and sixties they cemented their popularity through the likes of Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen. Having a couple of speed land records and track success didn’t hurt either. Triumph has survived a closing of their factories, the selling of the brand and even fires at their manufacturing plants. Through it all, Triumph’s business has survived and has now reached sales of up to 50,000 units worldwide.

As with any worldwide company, reaching new customers is a guaranteed way to make new sales and for Triumph, India is a huge untapped market for them that they would like to explore. As of writing this, Triumph has listed the seven models that they are going to launch in India; Bonneville, Street Triple, Speed Triple, Daytona 675, Tiger 800 XC, Thunderbird Storm, and the Rocket III. Although this list may eventually change from what actually hits the showrooms, it is still a very impressive lists that covers all budgets in India. For example, the Bonneville is Triumph’s least expensive model and one of the most popular ones as well. The Street Triple and the Speed Triple are more powerful and expensive but Triumph is counting on their appeal to India’s younger generation. The Rocket III Roadster & Touring have proven sales in other markets and Triumph hopes those sales continue here as well.
The Triumph dealership network is expected to start in India’s biggest cities, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and carefully expand outwards onto smaller metropolitan cities. Through time and sales, Triumph expects to be able to have a vast dealership network that reaches cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin Hyderabad, Goa, Jaipur, and Pune. A dealership network in all of the previously mentioned cities will rival that of Harley-Davidson, one of India’s best-selling motorcycle manufacturers.
