Scout Sissy Bars
Scout sissy bars can be constructed with a built-in foldable luggage rack. When the luggage rack is down, it provides a narrow ledge for your luggage to rest upon instead of sliding down to the bottom of the sissy bar. If the luggage rack is up, the grilled slots allow you to weave in and tighten the straps used to secure your belongings. It also provides a surface for the passenger to recline against since it rests within the center of the Scout sissy bar.
Chief Sissy Bars
Chief sissy bars can be mounted using the quick-disconnect system which does not require you to use tools to affix or remove them from the vehicle. Though the width between mounting brackets makes this product compatible with both stock and aftermarket Indian motorcycle models, the narrow space in between the steel rods makes it difficult or impossible to have a pad installed.
Indian Motorcycle Sissy Bars Design
The basic structure of an Indian motorcycle sissy bar is two long metal rods that create a rounded triangular space in the middle while converging towards the top. The bottom half of the sissy bar is the two steel bars extending into a prong with rounded and long mounting brackets at the ends.
The shape of the space formed by the Indian motorcycle sissy bar will either be a narrow V or a wide U depending on the tip. The pointed tip can have a slightly sharp edge, but it is blunt enough so that you will not injure yourself. The tip is slanted at an odd angle so that your luggage can only be removed by you guiding it along the length of the bars. The rounded tip has a smooth circumference that offers little but some resistance when strapping on your luggage.
The flat mounting brackets all have holes towards the front and back ends which allow the fender struts to be inserted during mounting. However, they can differ in their looks as some are rounded, others have contours, and several have a single rung built above the brackets.
Indian Motorcycle Sissy Bars Characteristics
An Indian motorcycle sissy bar can be an accessory to help give your motorcycle a fresher appearance. If you wish to go for a clean aesthetic, you can apply a stainless chrome finish to the product. If you prefer a cooler style, then the black matte finish may be best for you.
Some Indian motorcycle sissy bars emphasize height as they are designed to be as tall as possible to allow larger baggage to be stored without falling off. Others are wider in appearance, allowing luggage racks or backrests to be positioned within the space centered in between the twin steel bars.
The material making up most of an Indian motorcycle sissy bar is high-quality stainless steel. The steel is not only durable, but it allows the product to be weather-resistant and rustproof as well. So long as you are careful with how you handle your Indian motorcycle sissy bar, it should last for a very long time.
