There has been a lot going on in the motorcycle industry. KTM was nearly on the verge of bankruptcy, but good things happened, and it is back again. Other than the KTM, we can also see that things aren’t stable with Harley-Davidson as well. Neither of these bike makers is able to do well financially.
Regardless of the fact that both these brands still make one of the most desirable motorbikes around the world, they are unable to manage their finances. The sales at the KTM were already going down. On top of it, the halt in the production of new motorbikes has made riders around the world stop purchasing the bikes that were already standing at the dealerships.
So, overall, the situation was not good with KTM. However, after a long period of financial turmoil, the sources say that the production at KTM has resumed. This isn’t the first time the Austrian bike maker has resumed production. The motorcycle production has been put to a halt a few times before in the recent past due to a severe financial crisis.
Still, not everything has become perfect yet. A lot needs to be done to bring KTM back into its original form. Nonetheless, nobody wants one of the best naked and ADV bike makers to go. There is no doubt that KTM makes one of the most favorite adventure motorcycles that are versatile, agile, robust, and attractive.
Despite all the financial troubles KTM is currently facing, the company has not stopped working on the new models. The 2025 models of KTM bikes, along with the engine updates, have already been released, which shows the commitment. Also, it shows that KTM is here to stay.
Considering the current update that KTM has finally resumed production, it sounds positive. The Austrian company is currently in a better position than it was in the recent past. The official announcement has been made by the KTM. The production will resume in July 2025.
For those who don’t know, the production at KTM was stopped completely at the end of last year. It stayed like this for about two to two and a half months after the production was stopped again in March 2025. Unfortunately, the decision didn’t prove to last longer, and the company had to stop its motorcycle production again after a few weeks.
Considering such an unpredictable financial situation at KTM, it is hard to predict how long the decision to resume production once again will last. But this time, there is a savior who has stepped in to save KTM. This time, the future seems a little brighter. It is not a takeover. Instead, it is more like a rescue from getting bankrupt and winding down the operations by none other than the very popular Indian motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj.
Bajaj, the Indian bike maker, isn’t only there for the moral support. The company has come up with a handsome amount of investment for KTM to restart its production in July 2025. This infusion of cash can go into paying the debt and can ensure that KTM’s suppliers deliver the parts to the right place to start production again. According to the sources, this is what is causing KTM to stop producing new motorcycles, as the supply of new parts is stopped.
In all these situations, one must not consider that the problems with KTM have been resolved. Resuming motorcycle production is different from doing something financially good. KTM’s financial situation has gone down pretty deep, and it may take Bajaj to work tirelessly for years to bring KTM back to life.
