Indian Motorcycle Factory Team Racer Troy Herfoss Secures His Career’s First King of the Baggers Win

Indian Motorcycle Factory Team Racer Troy Herfoss Secures His Career’s First King of the Baggers Win

Indian Motorcycle in an official press release announced that the brand’s factory racer and the three-time winner of the Australian Superbike Tournament, Troy Herfoss, has secured the first King of the Baggers victory of his racing career. Herfoss secured this win while riding the S&S Indian Challenger motorcycle during a MotoGP racing event held at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) race track in Austin, Texas.

In Troy Herfoss’s debut King of the Baggers racing season, he has emerged as a formidable racer and a tough contender for other participants, winning second place overall in the championship after participating in four competitive bagger races.

Beginning the KOTB event weekend with gusto and spark, Troy Herfoss bagged the Mission Foods Challenge competition, along with the coveted 5,000 U.S. dollar cash award. After two preliminary rounds, Troy Herfoss gained a place on the front row for the start of Race 1. Even though the new King of the Baggers participant began from third place in the race starting formation, he quickly found himself among the mid-pack racers in the early stages of the race.

Despite having no experience racing at Circuit of The Americas and understanding the track through a virtual racing game, Troy Herfoss delivered a stellar performance. He maneuvered the motorcycle with the utmost mastery and raced to the front riding among the leading racers and into a triadic contest advancing fearlessly into the ultimate racing circuit (lap). Eventually, Herfoss managed to win the race in less than one-third of a second. Along with Troy Herfoss, Tyler O’Hara, another Indian Motorcycle factory team racer and the 2022 King of the Bagger Champion earned a position on the podium. This is Tyler O’Hara’s first place on the podium in the 2024 racing event.

“It’s an honor to be standing here today and get my first win at COTA during MotoGP. It’s early in the season, and I am getting more and more seat time aboard the S&S Indian Challenger. It’s an incredible motorcycle - fast and smooth, but at 620 pounds, it’s like nothing I have ever raced before. With each lap and every race, I learn something new and gain even more confidence,”

On the one hand, Troy Herfoss is a stranger in the world of King of the Baggers up until this point, his motorcycle S&S Indian Challenger , and the entire crew are well-known in this racing event and well-acquainted with its rigors and demands. Under O’Hara’s racing prowess, both the S&S motorcycle and the factory team secured victory in the 2020 premiere race and 2022 championship title. Combined with O’Hara’s expertise and racing savvy, the Indian Challenger’s power-packed performance, and S&S’s racing bagger craftsmanship, Troy Herfoss’s inherent skills have become more polished, making him a formidable and deserving contestant or participant for this year’s Championship title.

To make his debut in the King of the Baggers racing event and make his career, Troy Herfoss has made sure never to fall short of positioning himself on the podium. In addition to securing one victory, he has also secured three runner-up rankings. Overall, he has secured second place, falling only 10 points short of the first position and maintaining a 24-point lead over third place.

The 2024 MotoAmerica’s Mission King of the Baggers series is continuing, and the next race is expected to take place at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on April 19-21. The S&S Indian Challenger factory race team is promoted and financed by Progressive, S&S, Drag Specialities, Mission Foods, Performance Finance, and Parts Unlimited.
