Suzuki Marauder Saddlebag Guide
The Suzuki Marauder is a great motorcycle for people looking to break into the world of cruiser motorcycles. It’s a versatile and fun ride that is easy to handle. Suzuki introduced the Marauder in 1998 and the classic styling has not changed much over the years. New riders flock to this machine because it is lightweight, nimble and an absolute blast to ride. Small and reliable, this machine will help owners create a true love of motorcycling and with that love come a need for storage options.
Viking Bags understands that Marauder owners will be exploring the open road and will be looking for storage as they find new destinations for adventure. We have a large selection of saddlebag styles and a variety of options to best meet your needs. Whether you are in need of storage for your daily commute or looking to hit the road for a long weekend, we have bags that will fit your needs.
We understand that you might feel it a little overwhelming when trying to decide but we can help you narrow down your search with these 4 choices.
Viking Bags feel it’s important for our customers to understand 4 factors in choosing the right bag.
1. STYLE 2. CAPACITY 3. MOUNTING 4. SECURITY
Do you want a little shine to match the chrome on your Marauder? Would you prefer a more stripped-down bag without much fuss? How do you feel about buckles? Would you like the option of where your bags open?
How much gear do you need to store? Do you need this for your daily commute or do you plan on taking longer trips?
Viking Bags has our own designed key which makes it easy to secure your bags. Maybe you don’t need your bags to lock? If so, we have options for you there as well.
Do you want a permanent solution to your bags or would you prefer something more temporary?
Bags come in a variety of different styles. Most riders will want the bags that will match best with their bike. The majority of our bags come in two styles, plain or studded. If your bike already has studs, you can keep the theme going by adding a pair of Studded Saddlebags. All Viking Bags studs are rust proof, polished, and stainless steel. Non-studded or Plain bags are very clean themselves and can keep the clean look throughout.
Plain VS. Studded
The Suzuki Marauder has a classic style and it feels and rides like one of its larger cruiser brethren. From the fenders, tank and spokes to all the extra chrome, this ride is a classic cruiser through and through. At Viking Bags we understand that Marauder owners will want to compliment this classic styling with bags that compliment this look. One of those classic accessories is the addition of Studded saddlebags. We also understand that our customers might be happy with the amount of chrome on their Marauders and don’t want to add any more. For those customers, we also offer Plain bags without much or any shine at all.
Viking Bags offer the option of plain or studded bags for your Marauder. Our studs are a rustproof, polished stainless steel that will compliment the Marauder’s classic cruiser styling roots. However, if you are not looking to add studs to your bags, we have plain faced bags with chrome buckles that will add high quality storage without all the added gleam of the studs.
BUCKLE VS. NO BUCKLE
The Marauder is a classic cruiser and we understand that not all Marauder owners are looking to accentuate that look. For those owners that are looking for a more contemporary look, we offer bags with buckles and bags without any buckles at all. For our customers who don’t want any buckles at all ourWarrior and Spear bags offer you the perfect marriage of storage in a sleek, blacked out package.
STANDARD BAGS VS. SHOCK CUT OUT BAGS
The standard bags offered for you Marauder are our most cost effective options and are mounted behind the rear shocks and in front of the rear turn signals. If you decide that you need more storage space available through one of our larger bags, it might be necessary to utilize a turn signal relocation kit. We also offer a Shock Cut Out option for customers who want their bags to fit a little more snugly to their bike.
Our Shock Cut Out bags have a custom mold at the front of the bags that fits around the shock. This option keeps the bags mounted closer to the fender than with the straight backed bags. This option is a little more expensive but the way that the bags would hug the lines of your Marauder would be well worth the extra money. This look does sacrifice a small amount of storage space but our wide variety of bag options allows you to choose the right capacity and fit for your Marauder.
Hard VS. Soft
We also offer bags that are completely blacked out without any buckle. Take a look at our Warrior and Spear bags. They are two options for bags that have no shiny buckles or studs.
Viking Bags are the world leader in saddlebag manufacturing and we are able to provide over 200 different options for motorcycle storage. From small to extra-large, we have the right bags to fit your price and storage needs. Trying to navigate all our options on our website might be a difficult task for our customers and we have thought of that. Our website has easy to use filters on the left hand side of our website which allow you the opportunity to narrow down you search to bags that specifically fit your Marauder.
All traveling and commuting riders know there is a risk when you are out on the road. Viking Bags understands this risk and we manufactured our bags with security in mind. We have 2 different locking options on our bags, one from the top and the other under the buckles. Plus, most bags have the added ability to utilize a padlock for added security. The best option for total security would be our QDS system which allows you to detach the bags and store them inside. Not only do we sell locking bags but we also non-locking bags for the Marauder owner who do not need a locking option on their bags. We do recommend you not leave any valuables in these non-locking bags overnight.
Now that you have decided which bag will fit your bike better the next step is to choose the right mounting hardware.
There are 3 types of mounting hardware’s available to you and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
1- Quick Disconnect System (QDS)
2- Hard Mount Kit
3- Throw Over Kit
For those Marauder owners who want a semi-permanent mounting option but who want to be able to remove the bags easily, our Quick Disconnect System (QDS) is the option for you. The QDS system is the perfect option for the rider constantly on the go that needs the ability to secure their bags inside the house or wherever they find themselves for the night. The added security is not the only benefit to installing our QDS system on your Marauder. Since the bags are easily detached, maintenance and cleaning is a snap. You can easily remove the bags to clean or perform maintenance projects without the hassle of trying to work around the saddlebags.
At Viking Bags we understand that some owners would like to mount their bags permanently. All our bags come standard with the Hard Mount Kit which bolts the bags directly to the bike. This is our most permanent and stable mounting option for all our bags. Even though this is a hard mount to the bike, it can still be removed in minutes. With the bags unlocked, you can unfasten the two mounting bolts on each side, allowing you to remove the bags when needed.
Viking Bags understands that not all Marauder owners want or need a permanent storage solution. We have a throw over option for our bags that utilizes a simple yoke and frame system. Simply throw the bags over, secure them using the yoke underneath the seat and strap them down to the metal frame. This is the best option for Marauder owners who need a simple and economical way to store their belongings or for those owners who have fitment issues with the other mounting options we offer. The throw over option is only available on our smaller bags that do not need to the extra support of one of our more permanent mounting solutions.
