6 Best Motorcycle Trip Planner Apps for Adventure Touring

6 Best Motorcycle Trip Planner Apps for Adventure Touring

Motorcycle ride planning is a fun process. Mostly, new motorcyclists get to ask some experienced riders about their experiences of riding around the country and how they managed to get to the best motorcycle riding roads and destinations.

This is the best way to stay updated with the current situations, which eventually helps a lot in deciding the best territory to explore. However, one way to do this is to Google it. That’s a kind of specific search about some specific place. Another way is to reach out to the motorcycle-relevant websites like Viking Bags , which have a lot of information like motorcycle laws and licensing for you in their blog section.

But, this is a lengthy process, isn’t it? And your old lady can’t wait to go out with you. So, let’s make it quick. In this article, we will be digging out the best motorcycle trip and route planner apps, so that you can find a suitable riding place in just a few minutes.

1. The Best Motorcycle Apps for Planning Rides and Trips

To help you out in finding the best routes around you or even in other states, developers have come up with the idea of providing riders with applications that will help them plan their trip conveniently.

Here is the list of six motorcycle trip planner apps that every rider needs to download on their smartphones:

1.1 Calimoto

If you come across something that has been designed specifically for motorcycles, you are dealing with Calimoto. This motorcycle touring app helps riders to plan their rides and find twisty and exciting routes.

Due to its bias towards interesting roads, this app does a great job of introducing you to roads you never knew existed. And it’s also incredibly easy to plan your rides. Amongst these, this motorcycle app also facilitates riders with functional options such as hotels and fuel stations, whilst still offering voice-guided navigation.

One thing that makes this the best motorcycle ride planner app is its one-click functionality. Due to the functional POIs, with only one click, finding the nearest café and fuel stations becomes a thing of ease for the rider.

Upon starting a route, you are given the option of choosing from the shortest, fastest, or twisted routes.

Furthermore, once you begin your motorcycle riding adventure, you will be treated to a wealth of information such as current speed, distance remaining, altitude, and distance with time traveled.

1.2 Harley-Davidson Ride Planner

Harley-Davidson Ride Planner has a free online account for anyone, and you can plan your rides on the website. Ride Planner has had issues on and off over the years, but it has come a long way and is becoming more and more polished over time. It has established itself as a prominent rival in the field of motorcycle trip planning apps.

There are four different map layouts to pick from, including standard and satellite maps, as well as other filters such as petrol stations, dealerships, events, restaurants, and hotels. You can also avoid paying tolls, driving on muddy roads, and so on. You can either enter an address for a waypoint or create one wherever you like. You may easily move points around to direct your trip in the direction you choose. Furthermore, you may alter the name of each waypoint and the mileage/ride time between each waypoint to make it more useful.

The developers have included the ability to import and export .gpx files in the most recent version of our ride planner. You could only export before this. With the launch of Harley's first adventure motorcycle, the Pan American, there are now both "on-road" and "off-road" routes.

You may quickly share a link with your buddies after organizing your motorcycle journey, or you can simply export a .gpx file to upload into your Harley Boom Box Infotainment System or another GPS device. You may also send the ride to your Boom Box over Bluetooth from your mobile smartphone. Within the Harley Ride Planner, you can also look at other shared rides.

The sole disadvantage of the Harley Ride Planner is that it does not have a 3D map option, which is quite useful for planning an off-road adventure ride.

Availability: Android and iOS (don’t work with iPad)

1.3 Eat Sleep Ride

Eat Sleep Ride, or ESR for short has the world's largest online community. It was marketed as a GPS app, but it also has a slew of social-oriented features.

The app is useful for discovering new routes thanks to other bikers' submissions. It's also useful for keeping track of and logging your own travels.

Another useful feature is the ability to organize group rides and track your riding companions. If you're into analytics, the app can also track your riding data, such as speed and lean angle.

Not only that, but you can also save routes you've cycled and post them to the community base so that others can enjoy them as well.

Crashlight is included in the premium version of the app. This is a built-in safety feature that notifies designated contacts if an accident occurs.

Overall, Eat Sleep Cycle is a terrific, multifunctional little software for finding new areas to ride while also engaging in some community niceness.

1.4 MyRoute App

MyRoute isn't the most well-known motorcycle navigation app, but it's the one we use the most, whether we realize it or not.

It's easy to plot routes, either by manually setting waypoints on the map or by typing your desired place into the search box. You can also alter the names, colors, and symbols of waypoints so you can view them at a glance.

Other advantages come with the premium version. If you plan to export your routes to a sat nav, you can separate or combine them and plot them on certain maps.

It's also possible to reverse your path without having to re-order the waypoints manually. Once you've planned your route, you can simply utilize the best app's built-in GPS to execute it.

MyRoute App

MRA has a desktop version, which is one of the features we like about it. As a result, rather than navigating with your phone, you can plan routes on your laptop.

Your route will be automatically added and ready to go whenever you launch the app on your phone.

This is our go-to route-planning app right now because of its versatility.

Availability: Android and iOS (Free)

1.5 Rever – Motorcycle GPS, Route Planner & Discover

Rever is another social app with many of the same capabilities as the others listed above. On the other hand, Rever is well suited to off-road journeys because it allows you to download routes and utilize them even when there is no phone coverage.

You may plan and ride your own routes as well as keep in touch with friends, as expected. It also offers extensive community features, such as the ability to locate other motorcyclists in your area. It will also send you in the direction of hotspots and motorcycle events in the region if you're into that sort of thing.

Rever – Motorcycle GPS, Route Planner & Discover

In addition, the app shows you a summary of your stored itineraries, including spectacular 3D virtual rides. There's also built-in turn-by-turn navigation, so you can plan your route and get GPS directions all in one app. Both of these features are available in the premium version.

This is one of our favorites as an all-rounder.

Availability: Android and iOS (Free)

1.6 InRoute

InRoute is a paid motorcycle trip planning app that costs $30 per year, which is $12 less than Rever. It differs from the others in that it is not always web-based. You can't schedule your ride on a website; instead, you'll need the desktop software. InRoute is also only available for Mac and iOS. It is not compatible with PCs or Android devices. InRoute is also compatible with Apple CarPlay but not Android Auto.

InRoute is also unique in that instead of dragging routes around, you drop pins to acquire the desired path. If you don't get the path you want right away, uncheck the waypoint and move the pin to a different position. You can also simply drag the pins around in the route box to eliminate or rearrange them. This method isn't as quick as simply clicking on a route and moving it around, but it's not bad if you get the hang of it.

InRoute

InRoute has been operating for a long time and is really reliable. It lacks the fluff of River and concentrates only on motorbike trip planning. It has a very simple user interface and simply operates without any serious issues. It also includes a lovely and full-featured iPad app, with which you may arrange rides in the same way as with the desktop app. If you enjoy arranging rides on your iPad, this is the app for you. InRoute is a motorcycle trip planning workhorse, and I especially like it for off-road adventure rides, but I use it all the time for street rides as well.

InRoute has filters for avoiding tolls, ferries, and riding the curviest or least curved roads, among other things. It does not, however, contain filters for things like fuel, housing, camping, food, and so on.

When it comes to seeing your height, temperature, humidity, precipitation, and wind speed for your entire journey as you scroll through it, this app takes the cake. Your GPS coordinates are also displayed at each waypoint.

On the downside, unlike other apps, InRoute does not allow you to record your ride.
