31L - AXE Large Motorcycle Tail Bag

Love your bags. I purchased the saddle bags last year and now I purchased the matching tail bag. Your bags make my bike look great and so handy to have. Just the right combination. Great job to the whole company and their employees.

I've needed to replace my Wolfman Tail bag which gave me 8 years of service on my daily commute. I pack a small laptop and have just upgraded from 13.3 to 14" display size. That's just a bit bigger than the old bag could handle. I thought about a duffle, but wanted something more substantial. This Viking tail bag expands the main compartment on each side. Now my new laptop in its new hard case fits in the main compartment with a little room at each end. I can pile in lunch, and and extra stuff in the main compartment which starts out flat, but rounds out as I fill it. The side pockets hold smaller items. the top flap works well for top access from the back of the bike. This bag forms the base for my packing system. I strap my bike cover to the front of the bag, and my hard hat on top. I might add a cargo net for flexibility. The Viking bag looks great on my Honda CB500X.

This Tail Bag was installed on a 2009 Can-Am Spyder, requiring that I extend the 4 straps that buckle to the matching Viking Saddlebags #8524, which were installed under the passenger grab bars. They also required modification, a double-sided Velcro extension to connect each other under seat. Note: would have required a much longer Velcro extension to connect over the seat.

That being said, I do love my bags, but I would suggest to Viking that they consider Can-Am street bikes in bag designs.

Purchased the Viking Sport Tail Bag to replace an almost identical MotoCentric bag whose top zipper failed (zipper track separated from the fabric strip sewn to bag opening). This bag appears to be either a ripped-off design or something Viking acquired from MotoCentric which no longer wanted to include it in their selection. The differences are very minor except for a few features related to the mounting system, top flap pocket storage compartments and, of course, the logo badge. All that being said, I was able to remove the badge an cover the hole (I hate logos) and install short pieces of PE tubing over the bungee hooks to protect paint. The M-C bag had nice plastic hook instead of the cheaper coated wire ones Viking uses. So . . . the bag otherwise seems to be as high quality a piece of kit as the M-C, is almost exactly the same size and by altering slightly the bungee/hooks have greatly cleaned up and minimized the mounting. So I'm happy with it and can recommend it to anyone looking or a small to moderate sized tail-bag that works well on a sport or sport-touring bike and with its airfoil-type shape looks pretty good, too. And getting on sale wasn't bad either.
