How to Repair Motorcycle Saddle Bags
You should head towards your local hardware store if you wish to repair your motorcycle saddle bags. In the plumbing section you can easily find abs plastic pipe glue. The common problems motorcycle saddle bags have are sagging and cracking. If the crack is small this thick abs glue can be applied to fill the crack. In case your saddle has a hole it is more serious of an issue especially for long distance motorcyclists.
Do not worry if you have a hole in your motorcycle saddle bags. The following procedure can be used with slight alterations. Get the strongest duct tape you can find. Close the hole from inside using the tape. Try using black tape if possible. Once the hole in the saddle bag is closed from inside apply the abs glue from outside. Make sure you do not over apply as this might make the repair very visible on your motorcycle. Give it a few minutes to dry and you will be amazed with the results.
The second most common problem is sagging. I would recommend spending a few extra bucks on motorcycle saddle bags to avoid this problem as long as possible. Good motorcycle saddle bags would take at least 2 years to start showing these symptoms where as cheap motorcycle saddle bags can begin to sag within a few days.
The best solution for this problem is to use plastic polystyrene sheets. You can get these sheets from big hardware stores. Also buy a small box of the strongest glue possible. Once you have both of these remove the motorcycle saddle bags from the bike. Then cut the polystyrene sheet of the shape of the saddle bag. Apply the glue generously at one side of the sheet and glue it to the saddle bag from inside. Put some heavy weight on it and eave it over night. You’ll love how your motorcycle saddle bags turn out.
