Nice Bags, but the hardware needs work

I put these bags on my VTX. The bags themselves are very nice, and I highly recommend them, but i made my own metal loop straps out of stainless steel and 1/4-inch bolts, and used three for each bag. I also used extra-wide washers to spread the stress load on the fiberglass walls of the bags.

With my own homemade hardware, they are mounted securely now, and look great. Nice fit. I would recommend these bags

Installed on a Honda Sabre

I just installed these bags on my Honda Sabre. The fit is a bit different than the VTX for which they are intended, but I called and asked before purchasing. I was told I'd have to drill my own holes, which was not hard (just take your time: Drill one hole, mount it up and mark for the next hole, then drill the second. Then you can transfer the holes to the second bag when you are happy with it).

The brackets are a little funky, but perfectly serviceable.

They look great installed. I'm very happy with them. If you'd like to see my install go here for more details with pics of the brackets installed, etc.: http://www.thesabrehood.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1848342#post1848342

I knocked them down from 5 to 4 stars based on the cheap cast metal used for the locks. One of the locking tabs broke already. Not a huge deal, but the rest if the bag seems well made and sturdy. They could have done these a little better.

I have a 2007 Honda 1300VTXR “Retro” with the Honda OEM rear carrier mounting bracket that holds the deluxe chrome backrest and carrier to the cycle. At the Honda Dealer I looked at the OEM saddlebags for this cycle and was very disappointed in how they looked. I ordered the Viking ET-212-S bags via the telephone and they were delivered UPS the next Friday. Unfortunately no instructions were shipped in the carton but Viking customer service emailed the documents in less than five minutes.
The bags themselves look good quality but you need to purchase longer bolts

I have a 2006 Honda 1300C with honda backrest. I needed larger bolts about two and one-fourth inch length to anchor the saddlebags to the bike with the backrest. I also, had to purchase a sligthly longer bolts then the ones that came with the bags to anchor the bracket to the bag. i would suggest about one-fourth longer size bolts than the ones that came with the kit and I suggest using star shape locking washers. I also used both metal and rubber washer combo to distribute any kind of force (rubber aginst the bag walls and metal aginst the bolt head). I would recommend getting these bolts at ACE hardware. Once the bags were on, they were snug to the bike. No relocation of the turning signals or interference with the tail pipe or brake. They look great and I could easly keep a weeks worth of packing in them.
