Kawasaki Celebrates 40 Years of Ninja

The Ninja has been a trademark of the sports bike by Kawasaki since 1984 when the first Kawasaki Ninja GPZ900R was introduced. The Ninja series is a worldwide recognized Kawasaki sports bike lineup that includes motorcycles for all riders, including beginners, experienced, and professional track racers.

What makes the Ninja series stand out from the rest of the sports bikes is its aggressive design, stunning track record, top-notch high-speed performance, and esteemed reliability.

To celebrate the completion of a successful 40-year remarkable journey, Kawasaki has launched the Ninja 40th Anniversary 2024 year models with a paint job inspired by the iconic Kawasaki old-school styling with the traditional lime green color scheme.

The Inspiration Came from the Iconic Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R

The Kawasaki Ninja 40th Anniversary models have mostly taken inspiration from one of the most successful models in the history of international motorcycle road racing, the Kawasaki ZX-7R. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R was introduced in 1989 and continuously produced until 2003. It featured a 748 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke inline four-cylinder engine capable of generating a maximum horsepower of 109.2 hp at the rear wheel and a peak torque of 76.5 Nm (rear wheel) at 9,000 rpm.

Record Performance in FIM World Racing Championships

With a top speed of around 163 mph, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R became a predominant force on the racing track and in several notable world racing events, this beast finished first in the FIM World Racing Championships in the following years:

  • 1991
  • 1992
  • 1993

Record Performance in American AMA Superbike Championships

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R was also unstoppable at the American AMA Superbike racing and won the titles in the following years:

  • 1990

Other than these retro features, the rest of the mechanical parts and electronics are the same. The Kawasaki Ninja anniversary models also received a large Kawasaki logo on the fairing in a retro font. The special 40th Anniversary sticker is also pasted on the fuel tank and the engine size is mentioned on the tail cowl. To ensure a retro-inspired vibe, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, the Ninja ZX-6R, and the Ninja ZX-10R received silver-colored swingarms and frames.

It is a perfect way to celebrate the completion of 40 years of the Kawasaki Ninja series, making Kawasaki fans and sports bike enthusiasts cherish and relive the 1980s and 1990s eras.
