Motorcycle Saddle bags and Luggage Repair

Motorcycle luggage is an important necessity to invest in when your motorcycle is your primary means of transportation. Motorcycle saddlebags are among the best selling luggage. However, a common problem that motorcyclists deal with is the maintenance of saddlebags. Overtime, they may begin to lose their shape, and/or they begin to crack. This certainly reflects negatively on the bike. Fortunately, there are several solutions available to help you keep up the maintenance of the saddlebags. Motorcycle saddlebags can begin to sag for various reasons. The manufacturer most likely did not install frame in the bag, or it is of extremely low quality. For this reason, it is important to make sure that the saddlebags have a metal steal frame for strength and durability. Also, some manufactures chose to make their leather saddlebags of 2-3 mm thick leather which is of lesser quality, and can quickly begin to sag and lose its shape. High-quality saddlebags are made of 8-12 mm thick authentic leather that is strong and long-lasting.

Fixing holes on the saddlebags

Another problem that may occur is that the leather on the saddlebags can begin to crack and peel. Luckily, there is a solution. First, find a hardware store that offers abs plastic glue. This product can be located in the plumbing quarter of any hardware location. If your saddlebags are cracking, simply use the plastic glue as filler. If your saddlebags have a hole, the application of the glue is slightly different. First, apply a small piece of black duck tape to the hole from the inside of the bag. Next, fill in the hole with the abs plastic glue. It is important to make sure that you do not apply to much glue in the hole because it can leak and ruin the saddlebag. Let it dry for 30 minuets.
